COVID 19: CIVIL DEFENCE BEGINS SENSITISATION, SURVEILLANCE AND ENFORCEMENT IN AKWA IBOM

Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has began sensitisation, surveillance and enforcementen on Coronavirus in Akwa Ibom State
They urged the members of the public to observe all the precautionary measures listed out by the government in a bid to prevent the dreaded Covid 19 virus away from entering the state.
The NSCDC enlightenment and sensitization campaign is to create awareness about the killer CoronaVirus, before swinging into surveillance and enforcement.

Speaking with newsmen in Uyo on the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic in parts of the country, the State Commandant of the corps, Commandant Samuel Adekunle Fadeyi advised Akwa Ibom residents to stay safe and ensure they abide by the directives listed by government.
“This is the situation we find ourselves today. We have to be proactive. The Governor has spoken, and we need people to observe social distancing. It has not happened here yet, though it is very worrisome, but we pray that the epidemic does not come to Akwa Ibom. We are going to sensitize our people”.

He said about 250 personnel from Akwa Ibom are on standby as an addition to the over 9000 NSCDC personnel already assembled by the national headquarters of the corps in Abuja for the mass sensitization, surveillance and enforcement of government’s directive on social distancing in a bid to control the epidemic.
“We will sensitize people so that they would understand that they need to stay at home. One of our core mandate is disaster prevention, management and control”.
