AKWA IBOM GOVT SHUTS DOWN LIVESTOCK MARKET IN THE STATE

Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the immediate closure of all livestock markets in the state.

This is part of efforts to further intensify border closure and ensure safety of indigenes of the state during the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The shutdown is to last throughout the month of May, according to a release by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, on Monday.
By this announcement, no new consignment of livestock including goats, cows and rams, will be allowed into the state until further notice.
The Government advised all livestock sellers to sell off their stock and proceed to shut down, as security agencies have been directed to monitor and ensure full compliance, and defaulters be prosecuted.
