COREN, NUC grants full acreditation for programmes in Akwa Ibom University
The National Universities Commission, NUC, and Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria, COREN has granted accreditation to Akwa Ibom State University, for the running of 6 Engineering programmes and 16 other academic programmes in the main campus of the university.
This approval followed the successful conduct of COREN accreditation exercise held between 14th and 18th November 2021 during which curriculum, staffing, physical facilities, funding and management was accessed.
Likewise, NUC approved 16 academic programmes in 6 faculties during their October/November 2021 accreditation.
The accredited programmes include; Bachelor in Chemical & Petrochemical Engineering, Bachelor Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Bachelor in Civil Engineering, Bachelor in Marine Engineering, Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor in Agricultural Engineering, Bachelor in Business Adminsitration, Agriculture, Crop Science, Animal Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Economic/Extension, Fisheries and Aquaculture, English Language, Performing Arts, Philosophy and Religious/Cultural Studies.
Other are Bachelor in Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Integrated Science, Mathematics Education, Physic Education and Bachelor in Mathematics.
Speaking on the development, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Nse Essien expressed his gratitude to God for his grace and continued sustainance in promoting Akwa Ibom State University to become a global academic brand.
He further thanked the visitor of the School, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Pro- Chancellor Senator Udoma Udoma , Governing Council, the Senate, staff and students of the University for their efforts and commitments.
