EFCC SPIT ON JUDICIARY, JUSUN; ASSAULTS LAWYER
The Uyo Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has allegedly rejected a court proceedings bothering on Fundamental Human Rights of one Noble Tamunoateli Dainge detained for about 11 days as against the statutory 48 hours that the law permits.
EFCC also assaulted Legal Practitioner and Human Rights Advocate, Barr. Ewa Okpo aka street lawyer at their head office located along Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo who went to ensure that the an Ex Parte Motion of the Court granting bail to his client from State High Court, Itu division, was acted upon after the court Bailiff was allegedly assaulted by EFCC operatives.
Speaking with select newsmen on Saturday 3rd July, 2020, Barr Ewa explained that one Nwandu Ukoha Kalu Esq an EFCC lawyer “ordered that the documents of the court be returned to the bailiff asking us in the rudest way ever imagined to leave the office while raining invectives on the revered learned Justice Ntong Ntong as though they had personal a vendetta” apparently spat on the judiciary
Barr Ewa further called on Judiciary to show interest in defending itself. He said “I also very respectfully urge the Acting Chief Judge and the Judiciary not to sleep on the right and honour of the Judiciary. If the judiciary cannot protect itself how then can it even be the hope of the common man? I implore the Judiciary Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) Uyo Branch and Nationwide to show solidarity for the dignity of her member so violated and abused by a sister institution.”
