First Engineer at Uniterm Nigeria Limited

The First Engineer position is a full-time engineering role in the oil and gas/energy industry located in Rivers, Nigeria. It requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 2-10 years of experience.

The responsibilities of the role include

1. Assisting the Chief Engineer in all aspects of the engineering department
2. Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all machinery and equipment
3. Supervising the engineering department staff and allocating maintenance and operating duties
4. Preparing machinery for survey
5. Ensuring the accuracy and up-to-dateness of all engineering records
6. Completing hand-over notes at the end of each engagement
7. Advising the Chief Engineer on spare gear requirements
8. Supervising maintenance and repair work in the engineering department
9. Assisting the Chief Engineer with the preparation of the running repair list and supervision of major repairs and dockings
10. Meeting daily with the Chief Engineer to discuss planned work schedules, progress, and defects/problems encountered
11. Assisting the Chief Engineer with the management of the planned maintenance system
12. Assuming the duties of the Chief Engineer when required
13. Reviewing safety notices and other safety management system documentation
14. Assisting the Safety Officer with safety-related inspections of machinery spaces, control of COSHH relating to engineering consumables, accident/incident investigation, and monitoring processes which have the capability to cause an environmental impact
15. Performing any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer

Qualification

• Candidates must have a Second Engineer (Unlimited) STCW A-III/2 certificate,
• A diploma in marine engineering, NVQ Level 4 in engineering knowledge,
• High voltage management certification, P
• ersonal survival techniques certification,
• Fire prevention and fire fighting certification,
• Elementary first aid certification,
• Personal safety and social responsibilities certification,
• A designated security duties certificate (STCW A-VI/6), K-Chief Step 1 certification,
• An OGUK medical, ENG1 or ILO equivalent certification, and BOSIET/T-BOSIET certification.
• They must also have at least 2 years of sea time service in a similar role.
