“MY SUCCESSOR WILL MAKE A’IBOM A FLAGSHIP STATE” – Gov Emmanuel
. . . As Gale of Defection Hits Opposition Party In A’Ibom

~ Lawrence Ekong
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel has indicated that his successor in-waiting, and the 2023 Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Pastor Umo Eno, has the magic wand to raise the status of the state to a flagship centre that would be referenced by other states in Nigeria, and in Africa.
Mr. Emmanuel made the assertion on Thursday October 27, at Unity Park, Uyo, during the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial campaign flag-off and presentation of flags to all candidates contesting the 2023 general elections on the platform of the PDP.
Emmanuel, who carpeted naysayers on the leadership acumen of Eno, said the choice of his successor, aside being divinely inspired, was predicated on his impeccable track record as a successful private capitalist.
“Watch, this state would turn a reference state for Nigeria and the whole of Africa. He is going to build on the economic foundation that we have laid, and Akwa Ibom State would be on a steady march to economic progress”.
While addressing the vast turn-out, Pst Umo Eno said, he would ensure that the people of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District maintain their cosmopolitan composition through entrepreneurship and prolification of business hubs.
“Uyo is not just the seat of government and the seat of politics. Uyo must become the centre of innovation and commerce”, the PDP Governorship candidate stated.
Meanwhile, the main opposition political Party in Akwa Ibom State, the All Progressives Congress, has lost it’s sizable support base to the ruling political party, the PDP.
While presentating the defectors to the Governor and other party stakeholders, the State Chairman of the PDP, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Akpan, said PDP remains a formidable platform and the Party to beat in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking on behalf of other defectors, the former Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Hon. Ekerette Ekpenyong, said they were spoured to rejoin the PDP by the excellent performance of Governor Udom Emmanuel, and the campaign manifesto of Pst. Umo Eno, adding that with their return to the PDP, Victory was certain for Eno and other candidates of the Party.
The rally was graced by political big wigs from the 3 Senatorial Districts and 10 Federal Constituencies of the state, including captains of industry and other stakeholders in Akwa Ibom politics.
