State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Samuel Fadeyi Esq

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Akwa Ibom State Command, have arrested no fewer than three persons over alleged illegal dealings in adulterated petroleum products suspected to be Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), popularly known as diesel.

The suspects were arrested along the Ikot Abasi-Portharcourt Expressway, while reportedly conveying over 60 sacks bags of adulterated AGO, lifted through a truck meant for the transportation of agro-allied products and sand.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Samuel Fadeyi Esq, who disclosed this in Uyo on Friday, disclosed that the suspects tactfully concealed the products under large amount of sand loaded on the truck, with the intent to deceive operatives of the Corps on patrol.

He pointed out that Command will thoroughly investigate the matter before the suspects are charged to a court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution.

While sounding a note of warning from the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, to illegal petroleum dealers, the Akwa Ibom NSCDC Boss warned all perpetrators of oil theft, illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism and other criminal activities to desist from these nefarious activities, as there was no hiding place for crime in its area of operations.

He further warned that the product being inflammable could cause fire disaster, if not properly handled. He reiterated that NSCDC’s mandate is not only directed at protection of lives and properties but also, protection of our collective critucal assets and infrastructure as a nation.
