NULGE AKS CHAPTER INAUGURATES NEWLY ELECTED EXCO’S

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, inaugurated Mrs. Anestina Iweh and other newly elected Executive members to pilot its affairs for the next 4 years.
Speaking at the event held on Wednesday, 16th December, 2020 at NULGE State Secretariat, Uyo, the State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Sunny James congratulated the newly sworn-in executives and prayed for the spirit of togetherness at all times. He thanked the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for being a father to all, while assuring them of efforts being made to address the issue of leave grant for Local Government workers. He further charged the members to support the executives while praying God to keep the union alive, active and united.

In his remarks at the event, the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien represented by Miss Doris Effiong Ikpor, acknowledged the immense contributions of the union to the growth and development of the state while admonishing the new executives to ensure that they are resolute and operate an inclusive leadership style towards taking the union to the next level.
Elder Essien while appreciating the leadership of the union, charged them to toe the path of responsible trade unionism.
“I wish to acknowledge the immense contributions of the union to the development of the state. You must understand that you can still remain successful pro-workers, labour leaders and getting all your demands to government without necessarily being antagonistic warlords. So let’s work closely for the betterment of the union and our beloved state.”
In their separate Goodwill Messages, the National Vice President South South, Comrade Linus Akpan and Delta State Chapter President, Comrade Ziku, congratulated the newly sworn-in executives and prayed the Grace to live up to their responsibilities as good leaders.
In her acceptance speech on behalf of the Executives, the newly inaugurated President, Comrade Mrs. Anestina Iweh expressed happiness over the massive support and trust given to her even during her days as Acting President of the union. She extended gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel for the numerous proactive measures taken by him in addressing the many challenges of workers in the state particularly the prompt payment of salaries.
Mrs. Anestina pledged on behalf of the team to consolidate on the past gains while working in synergy with the NLC and other labour affiliates in ensuring that the wellbeing of the workers are of Paramount importance. She thanked the Honorable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong, Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Monday Eyo and others for their outstanding leadership style while also enlisting the support of all members towards the success of the administration.
Song renditions by the Melodious Voices of NULGE Choir, Cultural display by Akwa Obio Cultural group as well as live band formed the highlights of the event.
