
GOVERNOR EMMANUEL, OTHERS EULOGISE SENATOR EYAKENYI AS 364 CART HOME EMPOWERMENT ITEMS
Governor Udom Emmanuel has commended Senator Akon Eyakenyi for placing premium on human capacity development since her assumption of office in the red chambers of the national assembly, two and a half years ago.
Governor Emmanuel says her tenure since 2019, has witnessed massive empowerment and skills acquisition programmes of young people in the Senatorial District and encouraged her to keep up the gesture.
He spoke through the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Orman Esin at the Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District Empowerment of Constituents by Senator Akon Eyakenyi.
“You have not wasted our time in Abuja, we sit back at home and watch you raise your hands to speak for the people of Eket Senatorial District.
“The people are proud and happy with you, and can boldly say that they did not make any mistake by sending you to represent them”, the Governor said.
The State’s Chief Executive advised beneficiaries of the empowerment items to make good use of the items, for their personal growth and the growth of their society.
The event held at the Senator’s constituency office ground along Liverpool road in Eket, saw several beneficiaries cart home several empowerment items in grand style.
The items include 12 tricycles, 54 grinding machines, 100 motorcycles, 100 sewing machines, 48 sets of scaffold for trained scaffolders, as well as 50 sets of snailnery, also to those she had trained.
In her remarks, Senator Akon Eyakenyi thanked God for His mercies upon her in the course of serving her people.
She thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel and wife, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel for being her pillar of strength and support, while asking God to preserve the Governor and wife for Akwa Ibom people.
The Senator appreciated leaders, elders, the Peoples Democratic Party, people of her constituency and everyone, for being unshakable and consistent in their supports and prayers for her, and prayed God to bless them.
Setting the tone for the event, the Director General, Better Deal Campaign Organization, Mr. Samuel Ekpenyong said that Senator Eyakenyi has returned to appreciate the people of Eket Senatorial District for their massive supports and votes for her in 2019, hence the empowerment.
He highlighted Senator Eyakenyi’s scorecard to include construction & furnishing of several classroom blocks in each of the 12 local government areas across the Senatorial District, training and empowerment of constituents, scholarships to students, job placements and many other projects.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman on the Occasion, Engr. Uwem Okoko thanked Senator Eyakenyi for her effective representation at the red chambers.

“In 2019, the people of Eket Senatorial District made a good choice by choosing Sen. Akon Eyakenyi. Since she went to the senate, she has not disappointed us”, Okoko said.
Engr. Okoko who is the Chief Exective Officer of Hensek Integrated Nigeria Limited, expressed optimism that the empowerment is not the last, as Senator Eyakenyi would continually do more for her people.
Okoko advised the people to maintain peace and support the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s succession plan in 2023, in order to achieve a better Akwa Ibom.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Paramount Ruler of Eket Edidem ECD Abia, Deputy Speaker Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Felicia Bassey, Member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State Constituency, Mr. Francis Uduyok, Commissioner for Women Affairs & Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Chairman Aks PDP, Mr. Aniekan Akpan who was represented by Barr. Akpadiaha Ebitu, President, Eket Senatorial District Women Forum, Mrs. Idara Ephraim Akpan, Afigh Iwaad Ekid, as well as all the Chapter Chairmen of the PDP in Eket Senatorial District, unanimously eulogized Senator Akon Eyakenyi for touching the down-trodden since assumption of office.
“This is the only Senator that gathers her people yearly. If you watch out during the plenary at the red chambers, Senator Eyakenyi’s hands are always up, and recognized to speak for the good of her people”, the people echoed in their separate messages.
They prayed God’s grace upon the Senator, to enable her do more for her people, while they encouraged beneficiaries of the empowerment items to make judicious use of the items.
Highlighting her scorecards in the Senate, Eyakenyi solicited the people’s supports, prayers and inputs on how to serve them better.
