GOV. UDOM EMMANUEL: THE ELEPHANT OF AKWA IBOM STATE
By Emmanuel U. Umanah
An elephant and a dog became pregnant at the same time. Three months down the line, the dog gave birth to six puppies. Six months later the dog was pregnant again, and nine months on it gave birth to another dozen of puppies. The pattern continued.
On the 18th month, the dog approached the elephant and questioned: “Are you sure that you are pregnant? We became pregnant on the same date. I have given birth three times to a dozen of puppies and they are now grown to become big dogs, yet you are still pregnant. What is going on? The elephant replied: “There is something I want you to understand. What I am carrying is not a puppy but an elephant. I only give birth to one in two years. When my baby hits the ground, the earth feels it. When my baby crosses the road, human beings stop and watch in admiration. What I carry draws attention. So what I’m carrying is mighty and great”.
Governor Udom Emmanuel symbolizes the elephant of Akwa Ibom. His administration is known for unique projects that will last the test of time. Udom Emmanuel desires to diversify the state’s economy and attract foreign direct investment, even in the face of the current economic challenges.
He has continued to invest heavily in all areas especially infrastructures that we believe will help sustain a conducive environment for business in the state.
One of the numerous projects of his administration is the Ikot Oku Ikono flyover bridge which is presently 95% completed.
The project commenced in the third quarter of 2019 with two years earmarked for completion, despite the Covid-19, the project is still within its completion dateline.
This project will bring to an end the constant accidents that have claimed numerous lives.
The project is so unique. It is the longest flyover in Akwa Ibom and the South-South region. The total length is 1km, the best.
I believe the commissioning of the project will silence the cynic and paid media agents as well as the enemies of the state.
The governor is vigorously reaching out to several communities in the state.
In line with the Slogan “Completion Agenda”, Udom Emmanuel has recently reaffirmed during a media chart that his administration will complete all ongoing projects around the state.
