DESPITE BEING INDICTED BY STATE ASSEMBLY, UYO CHAIRMAN WITHDRAWS OFFICIAL VEHICLE FROM COUNCIL SECRETARY
Hon. Imoh Okon, reinstated chairman of Uyo Local Government Area has ordered the withdrawal of official vehicle in the possession of the council secretary Dr. Stella Udoh.
Really that Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly had suspended Hon. Imoh Okon as Chairman of Uyo for allegedly been involved in financial irregularities and poor welfare packages of political office holders in the council.
During his suspension, Acting Chairman
(Hon.) Udeme Emmanuel popularly known as Ukai had donated a used 2010 Toyota Camry LE Army Green Coloured car as official vehicle to Dr. Stella Udoh years after several other council had equipped their principal officers with cars.
Hon. Okon in a report submitted to the House of Assembly by Hon. Mark Esset Chairman House committee on Local Government Area was indicted of all allegations raised in by the petitioners.
Okon said the reason he is insisting that vehicle be returned is that the vehicle was bought for the office of the vice chairman and not secretary.
Dr. Stella had since returned the vehicle to the Director of Works, Uyo Local Government Council, Engr. Ekong S. Akpan as directed by the chairman.
It should be noted that principal officers in Uyo Local Government Area do not have official vehicle despite the chairman boasting of increased internal revenue of over 80 million naira monthly.
