2023: MORE GROUPS APPEAL TO SENATOR EFFIONG BOB TO CONTEST
More groups have continued to appeal to Senator Effiong Bob to contest for the governorship position in the 2023 elections. The latest was a group of youths from Uyo Senatorial District.
In their request, the youths of the district said that they were not impressed by a situation where people are brought into leadership positions only for them to neglect young political actors in the state.
The group referred to Senator Bob as a grassroots politician who has been on ground all these years and is familiar with the needs of Akwa Ibom State, the development paradigm of the state and the requirements of the youths of the state who are the workers during election time.
They referred to Senator Effiong Bob as a loyal party man who has remained faithful to the PDP since its inception.
On why they think that Senator Bob will make a good governor, the young men and women said that Senator Effiong Bob has traversed the political space in the state for the past twenty five years adding that he has been in the legislature and the executive and has a judicial background and so has the world view to make an excellent governor.
They also declared that he has been at the three tiers of government – the local, state and federal. They recalled that he was a onetime Supervisory Councillor for Works in Nsit Ubium local government council, onetime Chairman of Nsit Ubium local government council, a onetime member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly who rose to become the Deputy Speaker of the first Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. He was later to move to the executive arm of government when he was appointed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state – a position he held for four years. Senator Effiong Bob was later to move over to the federal level when he was elected the senator representing Uyo Senatorial District, a position he served for two terms. He was a member of the ECOWAS Parliament.
The group said that with such pedigree, exposure, educational attainment, experience and international exposure, Senator Bob has what it takes to make a very good governor.
Responding, Senator Effiong Bob who is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators thanked the youths of Uyo Senatorial District for the trust and confidence they have in him. He however advised them to continue to support the Udom Emmanuel administration to succeed in its developmental and industrialization programmes so that there will be wealth creation and job creation where the young people will be gainfully employed.
On their request for him to declare interest in the governorship election come 2023, Senator Bob said that it is God that selects leaders and that at the appropriate time, God will do His will adding that God’s will will be the best for the State and its people.
He further stated that while it is the turn of Uyo Senatorial District to produce the governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2023, the governor so produced will be governor of the whole state adding that Uyo Senatorial District will certainly have input but that the final decision lies with the sponsoring political party, the PDP.
