CHAIRMAN HOPEFUL WRITES NSIT ATAI PEOPLE
My Letter to you.
MY NAME IS COSMAS JOSEPH OKON. I AM A LEGAL PRACTITIONER FROM IKOT ASUA VILLAGE IN NSIT ATAI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA.
BY THE GRACE OF GOD, A MEMBER OF PDP, A PLATFORM ON WHICH I HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO OUR SOCIETY WITH ENTHUSIASM AND CONVICTION.
Nsit Atai is the only home we have and our story as indigenes individually and collectively is tied to this our common heritage. It is the pieces of each person’s effort that stitches up all the loose ends of our fabrics and gives us an enduring fashion. Nsit Atai is a great local government that ought to inspire security in the future of her children, hope and opportunities for the youths and fulfilment for the elders. As Nsit Atai people both young and old, we must turn up for this duty every day.
We still have to accept this duty despite our experiences with the great leaders of the past, regardless of how we feel of their stewardship or even if you think that your trust was once taken for granted. The struggle to refine our story as a people is always ceaseless and continuous. Our duty is to keep trying every time and applying wisdom to trust again every time.
The next local government election is near and I agree that we may be flawed and fallible, that even our democracy or party is not perfect but we are still the best, our party, PDP is still the pacesetter and the finest beacon of hope for our people and that while the journey maybe sometimes rancorous, that the course is steady.

We have a lot to do as a people in infrastructural developments, provision of social amenities, education, agriculture and above all human development. The truth is, we have come a long way though we still have a long way to go but to get faster to a local government of our dream we must be deliberate about our type of politics.
We must seek fresh, cutting edge and disruptive ideas in our leadership and we must not persevere in our wrong. We must jettison politics of self and embrace the opportunity to grow the whole. This duty falls first to our party stakeholders and delegates and ultimately to the people of Nsit Atai. This duty also falls to me.
I HAVE A TEMPLATE FOR NSIT ATAI, THE PLAN IS SIMPLE, TO DRIVE PROSPERITY THROUGH EDUCATION, AGRICULTURE AND COMMERCE.
In a nutshell, I am confident that we can lead our state’s preparation for life without crude oil with our palm oil. I honestly believe that the local government can force an economic boom and take a lot of our people out of poverty through strategic partnership and purposeful investment in the palm oil value chain.
I believe that we can help our children dream big and teach them the 21st century relevant skills while supporting the state government to train the teachers. We can rejig our health system, commerce and our infrastructure
While the details of my template for Nsit Atai is already documented in my manifesto, let me add that Nsit Atai is essentially our brand with incredible potentials and that Nsit Atai needs a salesman that will market the brand to the whole world and a manager that will arrange her affairs for efficiency and productivity. This person will emphasize the beauty and opportunities in Nsit Atai to the attention of the world and do so with limited resources. A person that will pioneer a new frontier of development with courage, innovation, imagination and decision.
We are in the turning point of history, particularly in the emerging Covid19 or post Covid19 world. We cannot afford the old ways in a changing world, we cannot afford ‘NORMALCY’ and we must understand that with fresh ideas, the office of the chairman is big enough to organize a real change. LIKE JOHN F. KENNEDY SAID ‘THE TIMES ARE TOO GRAVE, THE CHALLENGE TOO URGENT, AND THE STAKES TOO HIGH—TO PERMIT THE CUSTOMARY PASSIONS OF POLITICAL DEBATE. WE ARE NOT HERE TO CURSE THE DARKNESS, BUT TO LIGHT THE CANDLE THAT CAN GUIDE US THROUGH THAT DARKNESS TO A SAFE AND SANE FUTURE.’
I AM OFFERING MYSELF FOR THE KIND CONSIDERATION OF THE STAKEHOLDERS AND DELEGATES OF MY PARTY, PDP TO BE THE PARTY’S FLAG BEARER FOR THE OFFICE OF CHAIRMAN, NSIT ATAI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA IN THE FORTHCOMING LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS. THIS IS OUR OPPORTUNITY AND WITH GOD’S HELP AND OUR COLLECTIVE RESOLVE, WE CAN MAKE NSIT ATAI BETTER.
