
EDUCATION ROADMAP: AKWA IBOM THINK-TANK ON EDUCATION SOLICITS FOR MEMORANDA

Akwa Ibom State Think-Tank on Education (AKTTE) has solicited for Memoranda from Akwa Ibom citizens and organizations for the development of the Akwa Ibom State Strategic Roadmap on Education (AKSER) 2020-2030.
The call was made on Monday, May 18, 2020, during the Akwa Ibom Education Stakeholders Briefing Forum held at the Civil Service Auditorium, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Think-Tank on Education (AKTTE), Prof. Hillary Inyang, said that the body has commenced the development of the Akwa Ibom State Strategic Education Roadmap (AKSER) 2020-2030.
He said the think-tank which is made up of distinguished intellectuals, administrators, educators, entrepreneurs and public policymakers drawn from international and local entities, is saddled with the responsibility of building on the programmes initiated by Governor Udom Emmanuel to improve education at all levels in the state, with specific projects in physical infrastructure, equipment, and furnishings, projects, and programmes.
He added that the think-tank has commenced engagement with stakeholders in the education sector, data collection, analyses, and framing of targets for funding.
Aspects on which memoranda are sought for consideration in the coverage of the planned Akwa Ibom Strategic Education Roadmap (AKSER) 2020-2030 include: educational strategic plan development, the configuration of the state-wide education targets, structuring of institutional governance systems, organizational budget development processes, educational programme mentoring and audit, student and teacher testing protocols and institutional financing programmes.
Others are School Entrepreneurship support programmes in agriculture, energy system, information, and communication technology (ICT), civil construction/transportation, artisanship, health and social systems, design of internship and apprenticeship programmes, talent search development, ethics and morality support programmes, school campus design and maintenance.

Other areas to be considered include structuring of scholarly and scholarship programmes, research intensification approaches, community engagement programmes and international linkages, recreation support programmes and incentives for student volunteerism, elimination of cultism from schools, life-long learning programmes, operation of school farms and factories, teacher welfare and training programmes, the security of students and teachers, and funding systems for schools.
Interested members of the public are requested to submit their memoranda (suggestions and recommendations) by June 4, 2020, to AKTTE Secretariat, c/o GEISE at Emrosy Hotels, 4 Evarist Drive, Shelter Afrique, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, or E-mail: eliajoe2000@yahoo.com.
Professor Inyang assured that with the commitment of all the stakeholders, the project of developing and launching Akwa Ibom strategic Education roadmap would be successfully achieved.
He said none of the memorandum from stakeholders would be left out in the analysis, noting that the governor had stressed that solid education foundation will be one of the legacies he will be leaving behind.
The Akwa Ibom Strategic Education Roadmap (AKSER) 2020-2030 is targeted at preparing Akwa Ibom State for the 4th Industrial Revolution through Education and Innovation.
Present at the briefing was the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Prof. Nse Essien, Honorable Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Iniobong Essien, SSA to the Governor on Education Monitoring, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebiet, Members of the Think-Tank, Stakeholders in the Education sector, Heads of Education Boards, Heads of Tertiary Institutions, Permanent Secretaries, Unions, Associations, and Inoyo Toro Foundation among others.
