NSIT ATAI COUNCILLOR ESCAPES ASSASSINATION

The Councillor Representing Nsit Atai ward 6, Hon. Linus Edem William has escaped assassination in the early hour of Sunday, 31st May 2020 following a failed attempt by some unknown gunmen who stormed his house at Mbiet Ebe Obio off Aka Etinan road, Uyo to execute their evil agenda.
Narrating the story to journalists in Uyo shortly after the unfortunate incident, Hon. William who is the lead petitioner in the petition that led to the suspension of Lady Emem Ibanga as chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly said the incident happened so fast but thanked God that he was able to escape into the bush.
He said that immediately after he returned from meeting with his Pastor, Pastor Edet Okon who had a private counselling with him, the gunmen who dressed in black T-shirts like men of the Anti- Kidnapping police squad fully armed came into the compound with two tinted Hilux cars masked face got distracted at the gate by his sister who shouted police have come.
According to him, immediately he heard police, he used the small gate at the back and ran into the nearby bush without being noticed by the gunmen who later forced themselves into the compound.
Speaking further, Hon William said the gunmen spend like 30 minutes in the compound before leaving with a promise to return again.
The ward 6 councillor maintained that his findings so far revealed that there is no petition for his arrest pending in any police formations in the state which necessitate his believe that the armed men might be hired assassins sponsored by politicians to end his life.
He called on all security agencies in the state to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
Meanwhile pundits believes that the incident may not be unconnected to the ongoing political crisis rocking Nsit Atai between the suspended chairman of the council, Lady Emem Ibanga and the Councillors.
